Who is suitable for laser vision correction? 1.You are a minimum age of 18 years for PRK or LASIK, however there is no upper age limit. Younger patients may be suitable for PTK in certain circumstances. 2. You have had no significant change in spectacle prescription for the last 12 months. 3. No residual recurrent or active ocular disease, including glaucoma or corneal/retinal abnormality. 4. You are aware medicare does not pay the cost of Laser surgery. However, some health funds do partially cover the cost. Check with your Health Fund to ensure this. There is also some tax benefits available, check with a tax consultant for more information about health care deductions. You need to discuss fully with your surgeon, your expectations of outcome and that this matches the predicted outcome. You also need to discuss with your surgeon the risks, possible side effects and complications of the procedure. |
